Welcome Center Admission Test (WCAT) Practice Exam

One essay plus two short answer responses is designed to show both depth and breadth in an applicant. The main essay gives you the chance to tell a cohesive story about your background, goals, and what matters to you in a way that reveals your voice and personal growth. The two shorter prompts let you highlight additional experiences, interests, or perspectives in a concise format, so admissions readers get quick, concrete examples that complement your main narrative. This combination helps compare applicants fairly because everyone can present a strong central story and also showcase different facets in a standardized way. Having more essays would place a heavier writing burden and risk diluting the impact of the main narrative, while fewer or no short responses could miss important gaps. So the required pattern is one essay and two short answer responses.
